TRAILER OF THE DAY: SORCERER

I originally wanted to title this TRAILER TRASH but that implied I was going to actively look for and comment on shitty movie trailers. Instead I'm highlighting the best trailers for the movies nobody has seen. Most of these films are unappreciated cult classics and criminally over-looked.

What better way to start off than with William Friedkin's Sorcerer, this was Friedkin's follow-up film just after the The Exorcist. Although Sorcerer is a remake of the french film The Wages of Fear, Friedkin's film stands well on its own with his trademark nihilism. Few movies can pull off apocalyptic dread and better yet few trailers can pull off the exact same tone and sense of mystery of a film (without giving anything away) just like this trailer does. Scored by synth group Tangerine Dream, the trailer (and fortunately the whole film) feels like a fever dream descent into hell.
